The Iron Mountains are filled with, not surprisingly, iron ore. Wherever there isn’t iron ore, the stone itself seems unnaturally hard, lending more credence to this name. Not many organisms can grow in such tough soil, so plant life is slim to none. The lake (still needing a name from John) in these mountains is thousands of feet above sea level.
